The best way to book Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner travel advisor.
A Preferred Partner booking adds daily breakfast for two, a $100 hotel credit ($200 in suites), a room upgrade when available and VIP recognition.
Preferred Partner rates equal the official direct booking rate on the Four Seasons website. We don't charge any booking fees, so you get the benefits for free.
By a Travel Agent with LuxRally, a Forbes-endorsed agency and official Four Seasons Preferred Partner. Facts last verified .

The program benefits are the same at every hotel. What changes is what they are worth. This is how each one works at this property.
Breakfast is served at Ayung Terrace, the open-air restaurant at treetop height above the river, from 6:30 to 11:00 am, or in your villa or suite. The resort sells the same breakfast as its Bed and Breakfast rate, for two guests per room. A Preferred Partner booking adds it to an eligible room-only rate at no extra cost. Several of the resort's own offers, such as Stay Longer, already include breakfast, and in that case we tell you so and compare the two rates.
One credit per stay, for the restaurants, Jati Bar or The Sacred River Spa. The standard credit is USD 100, or USD 200 in suites. Every key here is marketed as a suite or a villa, so we confirm with the resort which amount applies to the category you book. Good uses are the seven-course Balinese dinner at Sokasi or a treatment in one of the riverside spa villas.
A one-category upgrade when available at check-in. The suites are in the main building near the restaurants and spa, and the villas are spread across the slope below with private pools. The usual path runs from a suite to a One-Bedroom Villa, or from a One-Bedroom Villa to a Riverfront One-Bedroom Villa or the Sayan Villa at the top of the resort.
Priority for both. Check-in is at 3:00 pm and checkout at noon. Flights to and from Denpasar often arrive or leave at night, and the drive from the airport takes well over an hour, so a confirmed early room or late checkout is worth more here than in a city hotel. If the room is not ready, the resort stores bags and opens the spa facilities for a shower.
A welcome amenity and a VIP note on the reservation. We pass on your arrival time for the airport car, any honeymoon or birthday, and whether anyone in your party should avoid long flights of steps.
Preferred Partner benefits apply on top of the resort's own offers. For stays from late 2026 these include Stay Longer, with a fourth night free and breakfast; Advance Purchase, with up to 20 percent off; Experience More, with a spending credit; the three-night Niskala Wellness Retreat; and Bali, Twice the Magic, for a split stay with Jimbaran Bay. We check which one works best for your dates when we quote.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has 60 keys: 18 suites in the main building and 42 villas on the slope down to the Ayung River. The main building is the resort's "rice bowl", reached by a suspension bridge to a rooftop lotus pond. Every villa has a private pool and outdoor shower, and bathrooms throughout have deep soaking tubs, separate showers and double vanities. Sizes below are the resort's own and, for the villas, include indoor and outdoor space.
Both are 170 sq m (1,834 sq ft) over two levels, with a king bed, a guest powder room and terraces facing the Ayung River valley. The five Premier Duplex Suites were redesigned by Hirsch Bedner Associates and reopened in July 2026, with new fabrics, dark stained wood and LUTRON lighting controls, so they are the suites to ask for.
The One-Bedroom Suite is 216 sq m (2,328 sq ft) with two queen beds and river-valley views from the main building. It sleeps three adults, which makes it the simplest choice for two friends or a parent travelling with an adult child.
Both are 216 sq m (2,328 sq ft) and take two adults and two children under 12. The Family Suite has a king bed and a trundle bed. The two Family Suites Premier, refreshed in July 2026, add a dedicated children's room and sit in the main building close to the restaurants and spa.
The One-Bedroom Villa is 350 sq m (3,767 sq ft) on the hillside among gardens, with a king or two queen beds, a private pool and an outdoor daybed. It looks over gardens and the river valley rather than straight onto the water.
The Riverfront One-Bedroom Villa is 340 sq m (3,660 sq ft), with a canopy bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a marble bathroom with a freestanding tub and a private pool. Some sit right on the river and others are set back with elevated views, so tell us which you prefer.
The Sayan Villa is 480 sq m (5,167 sq ft) at the highest point of the resort, with the widest views over the Sayan valley and a private pool. The resort offers in-villa check-in here for late arrivals.
The Two-Bedroom Villa is 760 sq m (8,170 sq ft) and the River-View Two-Bedroom Villa 1,320 sq m (14,208 sq ft), each with a king and two queen beds for up to six adults; the River-View version adds a meditation area by the river and an outdoor living room. The Royal Villa is 2,125 sq m (22,873 sq ft) and sleeps up to nine adults, and is booked by telephone with the resort.
Children 18 and under stay free in their parents' room, space permitting, and cribs and extra beds are complimentary. Every one-bedroom category takes three adults, or two adults and one child, except the Family Suites, which take two children under 12. Accessible rooms are available; the resort is built down a valley, so ask us about steps before you choose a villa.
Four Seasons has two resorts in Bali, and they are easily confused. Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is inland, in the jungle and rice fields of the Ayung River valley near Ubud, with 60 suites and villas and no beach. Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay is on the coast in the south, with villas in 14 hectares (35 acres) of gardens running down to the sea. The drive between them takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic, and many travellers split a trip between the two.
Bali, Twice the Magic gives a free third night with every two paid nights at each resort, daily breakfast and a one-way car between Sayan and Jimbaran Bay. It needs at least three nights at each resort and applies only to villas. Guests coming from Jimbaran Bay can also check in at Sayan by river raft, after a two-hour run down the Ayung, which is not offered to guests arriving from the airport.
Rates are quoted in Indonesian rupiah before a combined 21 percent tax and service charge. Bali also charges international visitors a tourist levy of IDR 150,000, about $9, once per person per visit, paid online before travel or on arrival. We include the resort's tax and service charge in the total we quote.
The resort descends from the entrance bridge and main building down the valley to the river and the pool, with paths and stairs between levels. Suites are in the main building, close to Ayung Terrace and the spa. If anyone in your party finds stairs hard, tell us, and we ask the resort for a room that keeps steps to a minimum.
Sokasi, the bamboo restaurant by the river designed by IBUKU, seats only eight people for its seven-course Balinese dinner, a menu normally cooked for big ceremonies. It also hosts the Sokasi Cooking School and a daily cooking class for children. Give us your dates and we reserve both.
Central Ubud is about 6 km (3.7 miles) away, roughly 15 minutes by car. The resort runs a complimentary daily shuttle to and from Ubud centre, which saves arranging a driver for the palace, the market or the Sacred Monkey Forest. Traffic in Ubud is slow in the late afternoon, so go in the morning.
Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, falls in March or April on a date that changes each year. For 24 hours the island shuts down, the airport closes and guests stay inside the resort, with lights kept low. It is a memorable day to be in Bali, but check the date before you book flights.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has three restaurants, a bar and 24-hour in-villa dining. Each looks over the Ayung River valley, and the menus lean on Indonesian and Balinese cooking, with produce from the resort's own farms and gardens.
Ayung Terrace is the open-air restaurant at treetop height, seating 60, where Head Chef Wayan Sutariawan cooks dishes from across the Indonesian archipelago. It is open for breakfast from 6:30 to 11:00 am, which is where the Preferred Partner breakfast is taken, lunch from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm and dinner from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Signature dishes include babi guling, the spice-rubbed pork belly, and coconut-smoked octopus. It holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2024 and 2025 and was refurbished in 2026.
Riverside is a 30-seat open-air restaurant at the river's edge, cooking dishes from Italy, Spain, France, Lebanon and Greece. Lunch runs from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and dinner from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. It is the easy choice for a long lunch by the water.
Sokasi is a bamboo restaurant in the gardens, with an open kitchen where guests talk to the chef through a seven-course Balinese dinner. Dinner starts from 7:30 pm. It is also the home of the Sokasi Cooking School, where guests shop at the local market with the chefs and cook a Balinese lunch.
Jati Bar is the teak-panelled lounge by the lobby, looking over the valley, open daily from noon to midnight. Afternoon tea is served from noon to 5:00 pm, and the cocktails include terracotta barrel-aged drinks and a seasonal list made with herbs from the resort's gardens. The bar was refurbished in 2026.
In-villa dining runs around the clock. The resort also arranges a riverside barbecue, a chef-led picnic in the valley and megibung, the traditional Balinese shared meal, on request.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is a wellness resort first. The spa, the two yoga pavilions and the pool all sit low in the valley, near the river. Daily yoga and meditation classes, the Ubud shuttle and Wi-Fi are complimentary.
The Sacred River Spa reopened in September 2024 after a full redesign and covers 4,970 sq m (53,496 sq ft) beside the river. It has seven spa villas, five for couples and two singles: Gending, a sound-healing room with crystal singing bowls and chimes, and Teja, with a Swedish and infrared sauna. Signature treatments include Restu Bumi, Tirta Ening and the Chakra Ceremonies. Treatments run from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, and the spa received a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating in 2025.
Classes are held at two bamboo pavilions, Dharma Shanti and Dharma Satya. Ibu Fera, the resident wellness mentor and a former Buddhist nun, leads meditation, Life Talks and the Sacred Nap, an afternoon rest in a silk hammock hung from the pavilion ceiling. Power, Hatha and Easy Yoga are complimentary for guests.
The main pool is a two-level pool beside the river. The 80 sq m (861 sq ft) fitness centre has cardiovascular and strength equipment, a whirlpool, sauna and steam room, open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm with staff and around the clock on request. A Pilates studio, a private gym and a recovery room are part of the spa's Fitness Hub.
The resort runs private rafting on the Ayung, which it describes as Bali's longest river, along with a Kintamani cycling trip, a day working with local rice farmers and a morning walk through the valley and Sayan village. A sunrise trek on Mount Batur and temple visits are arranged off property.
Pici Pici, meaning "little snail" in Balinese, is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with Balinese dance and art classes, games, sports and a play area in the Rice Barn Tree House. Children aged four and under eat free in the restaurants, and Sokasi runs a children's cooking class every day.
The resort received its first Michelin Key in 2025 and holds a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating. In 2025 The Sacred River Spa received a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating, and Ayung Terrace holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
Bali is warm all year, and Ubud, in the hills, is a little cooler and greener than the coast. The choice is between the dry and wet seasons and the busy holiday weeks.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is in the central highlands of Bali, 35 km (22 miles) northeast of Ngurah Rai International Airport and 6 km from central Ubud. There is no rail link, so every guest arrives by road.
Ubud is Bali's centre for art, dance and crafts, and the resort's daily shuttle reaches it in about 15 minutes.
Ubud Palace, in the centre of town, hosts evening Balinese dance performances, and the market opposite sells crafts and textiles. Go early to avoid the heat and the tour groups.
The forest sanctuary on the south side of Ubud holds temples among old trees and a large population of long-tailed macaques. Keep sunglasses and bags closed.
The terraced rice fields north of Ubud are among the best known in Bali. Visit in the early morning, before the crowds and the midday heat.
The resort arranges a pre-dawn trek up Mount Batur to watch the sunrise over the crater lake, and a cycling trip in the Kintamani highlands.

A Four Seasons Preferred Partner advisor and Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) both add breakfast for two, a $100 credit and upgrade priority at Four Seasons Bali at Sayan. Preferred Partner needs no card, doubles the credit to $200 in suites and adds VIP recognition. Booking direct at fourseasons.com costs the same and adds none of these, because Four Seasons has no points programme. One booking can carry only one of the two benefit packages.
