Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea opened in 1990 on Wailea Beach, on the leeward south shore of Maui. It has 383 rooms and suites in an eight-storey, U-shaped building on 15 oceanfront acres, with three saltwater pools, four restaurants including Spago and Ferraro's, and the new Kai Holo Spa, which opened in July 2026 as part of a resort-wide redesign.
A Four Seasons Preferred Partner booking at Four Seasons Maui includes daily breakfast for two, a $100 hotel credit ($200 in suites), a one-category upgrade when available, priority for early check-in and late checkout, and VIP recognition, at the same rate Four Seasons publishes, with no booking fees.

The program benefits are the same at every hotel. What changes is what they are worth. This is how each one works at this property.
Full breakfast for two per bedroom at DUO, which serves a buffet and an à la carte menu from 6:00 to 11:00 am, or through in-room dining on your lanai. Club Floor guests also have breakfast in the Club Lounge. Over a week at Wailea prices, this is the benefit worth the most.
One credit per stay, to use at the restaurants, bars or Kai Holo Spa. The five-course omakase at KOMO costs $150 a person, so the credit covers two thirds of one. At Spago, the resort's most expensive restaurant, it is a contribution to dinner, not the whole bill.
A one-category upgrade when available at check-in. Every guest room is the same 600 sq ft, so an upgrade here buys a better view and floor: from a Mountain-Side room to Garden-View, or from an Ocean-View room to a Deluxe Ocean-View room higher up, with a wider angle on the sea.
Priority for both. Since July 2026 the resort fee has also covered use of a suite for early arrivals and late departures, so if your room is not ready, or your flight leaves in the evening, you still have somewhere to shower and change.
A welcome amenity and a VIP note on the reservation. In a U-shaped building where the view changes floor by floor, we send the resort your floor and view preferences before you arrive.
Preferred Partner benefits apply on top of the resort's own offers, such as Experience More, which adds a resort credit, and The Complete Suite Experience for the larger suites. We check what is available for your dates when we quote.
The building is a U that opens towards the sea, so most rooms see the ocean straight on or at an angle, and none has direct access to the beach. Every guest room is 600 sq ft with a lanai and a king bed or two queens, so the categories differ by view and floor, not size. Skip the Mountain-Side rooms at the back: they face Haleakala and Wailea Alanui Drive, over a small parking area.
On the lower floors, looking into the coconut palms and gardens. Garden-View rooms have limited views of the trees. Deluxe Garden-View rooms have the better outlook over the grounds. A sensible choice if you will spend your days on the beach and want to put the saving towards a longer stay.
The same room with an angled view of the Pacific from the lanai and the bed. Deluxe Ocean-View rooms are on the middle and upper floors and look further out over the sea and the resort grounds, which makes them the best balance of view and price.
Rooms on the top-floor Club Floor, redesigned by Meyer Davis and reopened in May 2026 with 26 rooms and suites. The Club Lounge serves breakfast from 6:00 to 11:00 am, afternoon tea from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and desserts and after-dinner drinks from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. Check-in and checkout are private, with a dedicated Club concierge.
Suites of about 840 sq ft with a living area, a dining table and a king bedroom. The Ocean-View Prime Executive Suite, on the middle and upper floors, looks at an angle to the ocean and over the sculpture garden, and has two lanais.
Garden-View Suites are 1,100 sq ft. Ocean-View Prime Suites and Oceanfront Prime Suites are 1,400 sq ft, with a king bed, a sofa bed in the living room and space for two adults and three children. The Oceanfront Prime Suite faces the beach and the neighbouring islands across a 180-degree view.
The Elite Oceanfront Suite is 2,400 sq ft with two bedrooms, or three in its larger layout. The Maile Presidential Suite, 4,000 sq ft with three bedrooms, was redesigned in 2025. The Lokelani Presidential Suite runs to 7,200 sq ft in all, including a 1,900 sq ft private garden.
King rooms have a sofa bed and sleep three adults, or two adults and two children. Rooms with two queens sleep four adults, or two adults and two children. A cot costs nothing. Floor and view within a category are requests, not guarantees, so tell us what matters most and we will ask early. Accessible rooms are available in garden-view and ocean-view categories and as an Ocean-View Prime Executive Suite.
Until July 2026 the resort charged no resort fee. For arrivals from 1 July 2026 it charges $55 plus tax per room per night. The fee covers the spa's aqua-thermal centre, cabanas, tennis and pickleball, guided fitness, car service around Wailea, outrigger canoeing, the Hawaiian cultural programme and the early-arrival suite. Hawaii's lodging taxes add close to 19 percent on top: 11 percent state accommodation tax, 3 percent Maui County accommodation tax and 4.712 percent general excise tax. We give you the full total with your quote.
Every guest room is 600 sq ft, so pay for the outlook you will use. Garden-View rooms sit on the lower floors and do not see the sea. Ocean-View rooms see it at an angle. Deluxe Ocean-View rooms are higher up with the wider view, and the Club Floor is at the top.
The Club Floor reopened in May 2026, Kai Holo Spa opened in July and Pantry Maui in August, and Four Seasons has said the guest rooms and suites will be refreshed later in the year. For stays before the end of 2026, we ask the resort which floors are affected and request a room away from the work.
Ferraro's, open-air on the oceanfront, asks guests to reserve ahead. The omakase at KOMO runs only from Friday to Sunday, at the sushi bar, for guests 21 and over. Spago takes reservations by phone or online through SevenRooms. Give us your dates and we will book them.
Wailea Beach shelves gently and is good for swimming, but there are no lifeguards. The water is usually calmest in the morning, before the afternoon wind arrives. Snorkel at the rocky points at either end of the beach, and only when the sea is calm.
Under the Malama Hawaii programme, guests who join a shoreline debris survey or a reef clean-up have received a $250 resort credit. It is a useful morning out with older children.
There is no self-parking. Valet parking costs about $60 plus tax per night, and the resort fee includes car service around Wailea, so hire a car for the days you plan to explore the island, not the whole stay.
Kids For All Seasons is complimentary for children aged 5 and up and runs daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. A tween and teen camp runs in some seasons, usually for a fee. Children aged 4 and under eat free with an adult at DUO, Ferraro's, KOMO and the Lobby Lounge, and the resort supplies a highchair, baby bath, bottle warmer and nappies at no charge. There is a games room for wet afternoons.
There are four restaurants, the Lobby Lounge, two cafés, food and drink service at all three pools and in-room dining around the clock. Executive Chef Ryan Schelling's kitchen draws on Maui onions, Molokai sweet potatoes, Kona lobster and local fish.
The open-air restaurant beside the Fountain Pool. Breakfast, buffet or à la carte, runs from 6:00 to 11:00 am, and this is where the Preferred Partner breakfast is taken. Dinner, from 5:30 to 9:00 pm, is steaks and local seafood. DUO won Best Steak at the 2025 Aipono Awards.
An open-air restaurant above the beach, for lunch from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm, a golden-hour menu to 5:00 pm and dinner to 9:00 pm. Chef Russell Rummer's signature is spaghetti al nero di seppia. After 8:00 pm, selected bottles of wine are half price.
Dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, with ocean views from the dining room and the lanai. The dish to order is the spicy ahi poke cones. Spago holds Forbes Four Stars and AAA Four Diamonds, and is the most expensive meal at the resort.
A 50-seat restaurant, with a 14-seat sushi bar, set in part of the lobby. Chef Kiyokuni Ikeda, born in Tokyo and a Morimoto alumnus, works with fish flown in from Japan twice a week. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The omakase, five courses for $150 or seven for $232, is served at the bar from Friday to Sunday.
Craft cocktails and small plates looking down over the courtyard to the sea. The torches are lit at sunset, there is a hula show every night and live music through the evening. Easy for a first night, when you have not booked anywhere.
Pantry Maui, from the Los Angeles brand Madhappy, opened in August 2026 and serves coffee, matcha, pastries, sandwiches, açaí bowls and gelato from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. Beachwalk Café, on the path along the beach, sells drinks and snacks to take away.
The pools sit on terraces between the building and Wailea Beach, with 81 cabanas and 11 hillside sanctuaries around them. Attendants bring fresh juice, ice lollies and sunscreen through the day, and there are free water aerobics classes.
A wide, golden beach on a public shoreline, with a gentle slope into calm, warm water. Attendants set up loungers and umbrellas for guests, and towels and sand toys are on hand, with boogie boards to hire. There are no lifeguards, so check the flags. Snorkelling is best at the rocky points at each end on calm mornings.
The main saltwater pool, under palms with a view of the ocean, open 24 hours. Most of the complimentary cabanas are here, and the four ocean-view cabanas on their own lawn can be booked in advance for a fee.
The family pool, built for children, with a waterfall, a small slide and a shallow keiki area. It is open 24 hours and keeps young swimmers away from the adults-only deck.
Also called the Serenity Pool, for guests 21 and over, open from 7:00 am to sunset. It has an infinity edge looking towards Lanai and the West Maui Mountains, a swim-up bar, underwater music and bubble loungers. Its private cabanas are booked with the room.
Opened in July 2026. The aqua-thermal centre has a vitality pool, a hot pool and a cold plunge, with a steam room, a sensory shower and traditional and infrared saunas. Treatments include oceanfront rituals with kukui oil and lomi lomi massage. The fitness centre has been redesigned with Technogym equipment and an infrared studio for yoga and Pilates.
Hawaiian programmes are led by Aunty Mopsie Tuivaioge. The Queen's Garden, opened in September 2026 in the courtyard, tells the story of Queen Lili'uokalani across six stations. There are two tennis courts and three pickleball courts. The Wailea Golf Club's Gold and Emerald courses charge visitors $325 a round in 2026, or $225 after noon.
Wailea is on the sunny, leeward side of Maui and is warm all year. The decision is about whales, school holidays and price.
The resort is on Wailea Alanui Drive in South Maui, 17 miles from Kahului airport. There is no self-parking, so a hire car means valet parking every night.
Wailea is a good base for South Maui and Haleakala. The north shore and Hana are full days out, so plan them for the middle of the stay.
A paved path along the shore links Wailea Beach with Polo, Ulua, Mokapu and Keawakapu beaches. Walk it early, before the heat, and snorkel at Ulua on a calm morning.
Big Beach, 20 to 30 minutes south, is a long white-sand beach below the cinder cone of Pu'u Ola'i. The shore break can be dangerous, so swim only on calm days. Visitors pay $5 each plus $10 to park.
Snorkel boats to the crater leave in the early morning. Boats from Maalaea are larger and take about an hour. Rafts from Kihei are faster and bumpier. Most trips add a second stop at Turtle Town for green sea turtles.
The summit is about 2 hours and 51 miles from Wailea. A reservation is required for sunrise, booked on Recreation.gov up to 60 days ahead, with more released two days before. It is wet, windy and often below freezing before dawn, so bring warm layers.
About 63 miles and 2.5 to 3.5 hours each way from Wailea, without stops. Leave early, or ask the concierge to arrange a guided tour.
Daily breakfast for two per bedroom at DUO or through in-room dining, a $100 hotel credit per stay ($200 in suites), a one-category upgrade when available at check-in, priority for early check-in and late checkout, and a welcome amenity with VIP recognition. The benefits combine with the resort's own offers, such as Experience More.

The Deluxe Ocean-View Room, on the middle and upper floors, with a wide angled view of the Pacific. Every guest room at Four Seasons Maui is 600 sq ft, so categories differ by view and floor.
